The following post features student writing.

Today was our first day working in the village. We had breakfast at 7:30 AM and got to work very early.

We divided into small groups of four, each led by a different villager who told us and showed us everything we were assigned to do. The groups are Katya, Stella, Ellie and Alex, led by Javier; Cara, Cam, Shannan and Philip, led by Mario; Dhiya, Molly, Harper, and Lucas, led by Pedro; and Rose, Talia, Rene, and Giacomo, led by Juan.

All the groups had to build a bathroom so today we started making the adobe to be able to make the bricks. We worked up to 12:30, then we had lunch, and after lunch we talked about what we want to do as a personal project. We walked around the village and met some of the locals and explored the village. At night we played a long game of Mafia.

Every day is so different and unique in its own way. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
